Dog's Call Name: Leo
Title Achieved: OTCH
Member Comments: On May 8th, 2009 Leo and his friends Arrow and Rocket had Burger King hamburgers on their way home from the Iroquois German Shepherd Dog Club All Breed Obedience Trial in Seneca Falls. Leo won the Utility B class with a 198 completing his OTCH, winning both High In Trial and High Combined. Leo is such a good guy that he made us share his good fortune with his best friends. Leo has been a pleasure to train. He is the most biddable dog we have ever had and is also the most consistent in qualifying. I learned that the first rule of success in obedience is qualifying. You can\'t earn legs, win classes, earn placements or earn OTCH points if you aren\'t inside the ring when the judge is handing out placements and green ribbons. The second rule of success is avoiding substantial penalties. When Leo and I have followed these rules we have done well. We made many friends during the time we have been showing Leo. The pleasure of showing in obedience is that we as competitors cheer for each other, commiserate with each other, help each other by pointing out handler errors to be avoided and hug one another when we share our success with our friends.

Dog's Call Name: Chloe
Title Achieved: MACH 2, UDX, TD, RE, VCD2
Member Comments: Chloe was my pick of a litter sired by my Caleb, aka AM/CAN CH Droffats Puttin’ on the Ritz UD MX, MXJ, DD. I picked her up at 8 weeks and the very next week she had a request for a therapy visit. I knew the lady was VERY ill and that her wish was to pet an Airedale puppy. A nine week old Airedale is very active and has razor sharp needle teeth. With misgivings, I drove to their home and prayed all the way that Chloe would allow herself t be petted. It was worse than I anticipated. The lady, lying in a hospital bed in her living room, was unable to move her arms to pet the puppy and wanted the puppy to be put in the curve of her head and neck. I said, “No, not a good idea” for all the above reasons. Her husband begged me to do as his wife indicated and reluctantly, I did- but posed ready to grab her. Squirming Chloe was put in the curve of her neck and shoulder and curled into a ball. Immediately, I saw big tears flowing down the lady’s cheeks and I reached for the puppy. Her husband, also crying, stopped me. “No don’t!” she was saying, “I never thought I would smell puppy breath again!” in a barely audible vice. Chloe was gently licking the tears away. By this time, I was crying. For another 5 minutes this 9 week old puppy laid quietly beside this lady’s cheek- and then I felt it was time to go. On the way to the car I told the puppy, “Chloe, you never have to do anything ever again to justify your life. You are one awesome Airedale!” But she did! Everything I ever asked her to do she did in spades. Two breed championships, one litter, 4 breed champions, the 1st and only Obedience Trial Champion (Airedale), a MACH daughter, many titled offsping in obedience, agility, rally, and the list goes on. As does Chloe, she is 12 and is still tracking and doing therapy. What a girl!

Dog's Call Name: Charisma
Title Achieved: MACH, UD
Member Comments: Charisma was the pink puppy in the first litter I ever bred. Her sire was my Caleb aka AM/CAN CH Droffats Puttin\' on the Ritz UD, MX, MXJ, DD and her Dam was my Chloe aka AM/CAN CH MACH 2 Caleb Acres Call Me Chloe UDX, TD, RE VCD2. This puppy was outgoing, beautiful, athletic and just had charisma, hence, the name. She, like her parents, wanted to do everything and was busy, busy, busy. Of all my Airedales, Charisma enjoyed working. She had a signature jump and twirl after she finished the last obstacle in agility. People would remark, \"Look! She is celebrating all by herself!\" In obedience, several judges would comment, \"Someone\'s having fun!\" as she grabbed a glove or just returned to me with a flourish and a grin. We were having fun together. But it was not to last. “Ris” earned her MACH and UD in 2007 and died a few short months later. Who knew? I still have a hole in my heart. Charisma was bred once. She had 6 puppies- three became breed champions. They, and others in the litter are still showing in agility, obedience, rally, and beginning tracking. We will be hearing about these offspring and their get for years to come. One of her daughters, CH Caleb Acres Terra Nova RE produced the Best Junior in the Airedale Club of America\'s National Sweepstakes in 2008, Ch Caleb Acres Cannonhouse Exterra.

He also qualified to compete in the 2008 AKC National Championships the following year. Dog's Call Name: Connor
Title Achieved: OTCH
Member Comments: Conner is a very special boy. At age 4, Conner earned his OTCH title. As soon as I brought him home at 7 weeks and 2 days, I could tell right away that he was going to be a very forgiving dog. At the same time I thought I could see something that told me I would need to be careful with his training as I could see he was a little clingy and this could cause training problems if I did not give him LOTS of confidence in his training. Glory loved him from the very start. He was never afraid of noises, yet he also was never real crazy about playing with other dogs, other than Glory. He just ignores other dogs after a sniff or two and returns to me. Something that I have always loved about him. He is probably the most gentle dog I have ever owned out of all my Goldens. His play drive is amazing and that is one of the things I love about Connor. Yet he is a mellow dog in the home. He doesn\'t seem to care much who is around as long as I am there to play with him. All my obedience training with him was between training the exercise and playing in between. Entering the ring with Connor is part of the game. He is such a joy to train and show. Gail Puzon
